Automating
your dreams
Axxe is on a quest for fully automated assembly of electronics: The right quality at the lowest possible cost - even in moderate volumes. However, it requires your participation!
Automation is a product of manufacturability – which is not achieved in a heartbeat …
Manufacturability, besides being really difficult to pronounce, is it just another lofty concept? Absolutely not, manufacturability is all about time and details, and time and details. We usually measure «level of manufacturability» in cost, quality and available materials. To be more precise: The lowest possible cost with the right quality and lead time. Bear in mind: The FINAL result will take shape on the FIRST day of design. The very minute the first design decision is made – it can be as mundane as an electronic component – the premises for final cost, quality and lead time are about to be cemented. The complexity grows exponentially as you add more components, PCB, enclosure, batteries, cables, marking and so forth. AXXE certainly does not have all the answers, but we can help you along the way. Mainly by providing information and asking the right questions. Sometimes we even offer specific suggestions based on previous experience with similar applications.
If you are looking for smaller volumes - and cost per unit isn’t your (absolute) top priority …
Sometimes automation isn’t really an issue. The task at hand is rather the production of a few hundred (or thousands) products that will do the job. Quality and time to market are the key factors, rather than cost per unit. These are often products that are required to function stably in demanding environments, be it temperature, water and moisture, shock, vibration and the like. It simpy doesn’t make sense investing the required time and resouces to enable maximum level of automation – you grab the low hanging fruit, and leave it with that. Still, achieving the specified quality and desired lead time is no easy feat. At the same time, you probably have a TOTAL target cost per unit, ie. including design, engineering, qualification testing, NRE and production cost. At AXXE, we approach these challenges with the same scrutiny, tenaciousness and methodology as for bigger volumes, but slightly modified according to the task at hand.
We have been fanatical about quality, cost and lead time since the 70’s
